Jeffry Reid Gow was born in Newfane, New York, in 1956. Like the main character in his book, Mr. Gow is just an everyday citizen. He is an autoworker from Franklin, Kentucky, who, besides writing, dabbles in many things but masters none of them.

He is an avid historian specializing in the WWII era. He has also tried his hand at sailplane flying, Civil War re-enacting, and studying quantum physics and Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Hopefully, someday he will master one of them.
