Wistful Wanderings is Bettie Lundy Slade's third book. She previously wrote Do You Have a Minute? [Adams Press, 1991], which was found by it's readers to be very inspirational. Growing Up on the Farm [Adams Press, 1995] began in 1911 with her parents' wedding and progressed through the Great Depression, World War II, the author's six years in the U.S. Navy, her marriages, the births of her children and grandchildren, and her bouts with cancer.

Ms. Slade has received many honors and awards over the years. Beautiful thank you letters arrived from such notables as HRH Queen Elizabeth II, General Norman Schwarzkopf, Mother Teresa, and Bob Hope—to name a few.

Ms. Slade is an accomplished artist who works in oils, acrylics, pencil, and clay; she also enjoys gardening and cooking. She refuses to sell her works, believing instead that her talents are a gift from God "and you can't charge for that." She gives her books as gifts to family and friends. Ms. Slade has established a Hall of Fame where her awards and letters are displayed.
